Northern Nigeria Open Day

Connecting genuinely with 1,000+ people not attending church, or are Muslim, is a planned response, to months of rioting, death and destruction. No one is unaffected. ‘Open-Day’s’ provoke questions, surprise, and leaves a permanent imprint of what a ‘Christian-does.’ Meticulously planned; safe; ‘everyone’ helped.

1 ton of clothes and shoes donated from friends, the community, and churches: Waiting 1 hour for clothes most need.

All our youth, adults and children have a task. Order is a challenge! Over all it’s, a great day of ‘Organized-Chaos.’

The 300 women widowed in the current slaughter, are visited, and relatives contacted. Culturally now, on their own! We’ve done this 10yrs ago. It’s 2yrs of micro-finance to be self-supporting, and help with food, and essentials monthly.

The women carrying big bundles of extra food supplies are the Muslim, and Christian widows. It’s a big commitment.

It’s 37C: 20 Melons: Yam: 100’s of deep fried ‘Puff-Puffs’ (doughnut) and gallons of water are essential for the long wait.

The orderly lines for shoes, food, clothes and medical checks, continued until dusk. Families still grieving, or in need are either thanking the workers, or asking why they did this. No one had come to help or talk to them. Similar scenes are being repeated in the villages. They’re amazed that someone will pray for them, for the first time. There are tears, and the occasional groaning shout, of grief relieved as the team person, talks and prays with them, and healing help begins. Some in the city cannot understand why we do this, if they don’t come to church. There is never a wrong to ‘sow-kindness’
